2018 Citizen Advisory Group "Swing for the Troops" Golf Tournament attendees that have served our country


Thank you to the men and women that have served in the country's armed services.

We have compiled a list of local and national businesses that are honoring veterans with freebies and discounts.

This weekend and on Veterans Day, dozens of companies will extend a "thank you" to the men and women who have served in the country's armed forces with Veterans Day freebies, discounts and deals.

NOTE: Most deals require a valid ID indicating military status. Please phone ahead to confirm, date, time, conditions, and details.

Applebee’s: All veterans and active duty military are invited to visit their local Applebee’s on Veterans Day to enjoy a free full-size entrée. Find more information, here.

Bar Louie: During operating hours on Nov. 11, veterans and active military can get a free burger or flatbread, up to a $15 value. Plus, from Nov. 5 to Nov. 12, Bar Louie will allow diners to donate via an add-on to their checks to Operation Homefront, a nonprofit that provides support for military families.

Buffalo Wild Wings: Veterans and active-duty service members can get a free small order of boneless or traditional wings and fries on Veterans Day. This offer is available at participating locations only, so be sure to call ahead.

Carraba’s: Veterans and active military can visit Carrabba's on Veterans Day to get a free appetizer. This free Veterans Day offer is valid on November 11 only.

Chili’s: All veterans and active duty military are invited to visit their local Chili’s on Veterans Day to enjoy a free meal. Check out more information, here.

Chipotle is offering buy-one-get-one (BOGO) for all active duty military, reserves, national guard, military spouses and retired military with valid ID, at all restaurants in the U.S. from open to close on Veterans Day. The offer is valid on burritos, bowls, salads and taco orders. To find a location near you click here.

Chuck E. Cheese’s: In honor of Veterans Day this November 11, Chuck E. Cheese's is giving out one free personal 1-topping pizza to all active duty, national guard, and retired military members. This Veterans Day free meal offer is valid at participating stores nationwide. Military ID is required. Chuck E. Cheese's has offers for military families all year round, too.

City Barbeque: All military members and veterans can visit City Barbeque on Sunday, November 11 for Veterans Day to get a free sandwich platter. This Veterans Day free food offer includes not only a free sandwich but also two sides and a regular drink. Every City Barbeque location is participating, and it's valid for both dine-in and carry out.

Cracker Barrel: On Nov. 11, veterans can choose between a free slice of Double Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola Cake or a specialty coffee beverage. Cracker Barrel's specialty coffee drinks include the Goo Goo Cluster latte, mochas, lattes and vanilla lattes. This promo is offered at all Cracker Barrel Old Country Store locations nationwide.

Denny’s: All veterans and active duty military are invited to build their own Grand Slam for free. This offer is limited to Monday, Nov. 12, from 12-5 p.m. Click here for details.

Dunkin’ Donuts: All veterans and active duty military are eligible to receive a free donut of their choice with no purchase necessary. Find out more, here.

Famous Dave's: The barbecue chain will salute vets on Nov. 11 and Nov. 12 with a Two-Meat Salute. That refers to the free platter all former and current military personnel can get on those days. Those eligible for this deal can choose two different meats, which include Georgia chopped pork, country-roasted chicken, BBQ chicken, Sweetwater catfish fingers, Southside rib tips and Texas beef brisket, and complete the meal with a choice of side and a cornbread muffin.

Fricker’s: Join us in thanking all of our service men and women in observance of Veteran's Day on Monday 11/12/18. Present your current or retired military card and receive 10 free wings (boneless or traditional). This is a dine in only promotion and cannot be combined with any other offers.

Golden Corral:  All veterans and active duty military get a “thank you” dinner, limited from 5-9 p.m. on Monday, November 12. Click here for details.

Great Clips:  Free haircut or card valid for a free haircut before the end of the year for all veterans and members of the military on November 11, 2018.  Customers who stop in for salon service can also get a card valid for a free haircut to give to a veteran.  For details, click here.

Hollywood Casino / Epic Buffet - - free buffet 11 am to 9 pm.  (Requires joining Marquee Rewards Club, for free)

Hooters:  All veterans and active duty military get a free meal on Veterans Day with the purchase of a drink. Patrons are also encouraged to buy a Hooters calendar for active-duty personnel as part of Operation Calendar Drop. See more information, here.

IHOP: This year on Monday, November 12, IHOP will be honoring veterans and active military men and women with a free stack of Red, White, and Blueberry pancakes.

Little Caesars Pizza: All veterans and active duty military can get a free lunch combo (four-slice pizza and drink) On Veterans Day. Orders must be placed between 11 and 2 p.m. See more, here.

Max & Erma's: Max & Erma's will be honoring veterans and active military personnel by giving out a free Best Cheeseburger in AmericaEndless Seasoned Fries, and a fountain drink on Veterans Day (November 11th). This is for dine-in only and you have to show proof of military service.

Olive Garden: All veterans and active duty military are invited to visit their local Olive Garden on Veterans Day to enjoy a free meal.

Outback Steakhouse: All servicemen and women, police officers, firefighters and all first responders get 10% off their entire check minus alcohol. Find out more about the Heroes Discount, here.

On The Border: On Sunday, November 11th, On the Border is giving veterans and active duty military members a free Create Your Own Combo meal where they'll get to choose two selections of tacos, enchiladas, empanadas, mini chimis, and other classics. Eligible guests are also served Mexican rice and beans, plus endless chips and salsa.

Red Robin: All veterans and active duty military members get a free Red’s Tavern Double burger with Bottomless Steak Fries on Veterans Day, at participating locations. Find out more, here.

Sport Clips:  Free haircut on Monday, November 11, 2013 for veterans and active-duty military personnel at select loctions.  Plus, they will donate $1 from every haircut to their “Help a Hero” scholarship fund.  For information and details, click here. 

Starbucks: Veterans, active duty service members and military spouses, enjoy a free tall (12 fl oz) hot brewed coffee on Veterans Day (11/11) at any participating Starbucks® store.

T.G.I. Friday’s: In honor of Veterans Day, November 11, Active Duty & Veterans  are invited to be honored Guests of TGI Fridays restaurants nationwide and enjoy unique local specials. All veterans and active duty military get a free meal up to $12. The restaurant is also giving away four $50 gift cards. Find out more about both, here.

Twin Peaks: Active and retired military members can visit Twin Peaks the day after Veterans Day, on Monday the 12th, for a completely free Veterans Day meal. This Veterans Day free meal is valid only the day after Veterans Day, from 11 a.m. through 11 p.m., and might be valid only at participating Twin Peaks locations. Eligible customers can pick anything from this special Veterans Day menu: Chicken Tenders, Philly Cheesesteak, Chicken Ranch, Cheeseburger, or Crispy Buffalo Chicken Salad.

Our mission is to honor those who have served or are currently serving their country with a FREE car wash each year on November 11. This international program unites the car wash industry each year by listing participating car washes that are honoring veterans with a free car wash that day.

University of Toledo Resource Fair and Appreciation Breakfast - - Monday, Nov.  12. from 8 am to 11 am at Savage Arena, with post-event ceremony.   The 14th Annual Veterans Fair and Appreciation Breakfast is an exciting event designed to honor active members of the military, veterans, and their families - while connecting them to services and resources available in our community.

Lourdes University - Lourdes University offers a Veterans Day event on Monday, November 12 at 4 p.m. in the Franciscan Center, 6832 Convent Blvd., in Sylvania. The featured speaker is Lt. Colonel Harold B. Owens, Retired, US Air Force Chaplain. Light refreshments will be served directly following the event.

World War I Commemorative Ceremony - - Toledo Memorial Park.  Veterans Tower on Sunday, Nov. 11th.  11:00 am to noon.  On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, town criers across America announced the signing of an armistice that officially ended World War I. On Nov. 11, 2018, at Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania, Ohio, a town crier will join military and local officials to honor this anniversary and dedicate a new memorial.
