Toledo Zoo Walk & Museum of Natural History Tour – Senior Discovery Days

Bring a friend and join Citizen Advisory Group on a zoo tour with zoo experts at the NEW ProMedica Museum of Natural History. The museum opened its doors in May 2019 where visitors can explore life-sized sculptures from pre-historic Ohio, a hands on room of artifacts and fossils, touchable lake sturgeon and crayfish exhibits, komodo dragons and other venomous animals. There we will also discover two beautiful conservatories – tropics and prairie – where you will find lush plants, butterflies, bees, frogs and turtles.

Sunshine Art Studios Tour

Join CAG for a tour of the Sunshine Art Studios in downtown Maumee. Sunshine Studios opened the doors in 2014 and is owned and operated by Sunshine Communities, a Maumee-based nonprofit that supports people with developmental disabilities since 1950. Sunshine Art Studio is a vocational work site that works with individuals with developmental disabilities. As part of our guided tour, we will meet and observe the Sunshine Artists.

Immediately following the tour, each guest will have an opportunity to create your very own masterpiece if you wish. CAG will pay $10 per person for your creation. Please note, some items require an additional cost. You are welcome to upgrade your project at your own expense if you would like to do so.

Retirement Roadmap Resources for a Sucessful Journey

Do you have a plan? Have you thought about what you will do when you retire? If are you are thinking of what you will do when you finish your career you are invited to attend the inaugural Retirement Roadmap event. This educational event will highlight many critical areas that affect retirees once they reach a specific age.

The event, held in the St. Luke’s Hospital Auditorium, will begin at 9 am on Saturday, March 16 and finish at 1 pm. The day will include a continental breakfast and lunch, registration fee is $10 per person. All proceeds benefit St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation.

“There is a need for this type of event in our community. The professionals that we have coming together will empower people as they move forward with retirement planning,” said Cathy Tippenhauer, Owner of CarePatrol NWO. “We are looking forward to a fun morning that participants will feel is worth their time to attend.”

Breakout session topics will include Medicare planning, pharmaceutical tips, remodeling and downsizing, travel tips and ideas, preplanning one’s funeral, financial planning, estates, wills and trusts organization, and much more. Attendees will receive a gift bag and a raffle ticket for a door prize.

Major sponsors are St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation, CarePatrol of NWO, Citizen Advisory Group, Arista Home Care Solutions, Toledo Family Pharmacy and Let’s Go! Vacations by Sue, LLC. Paula graduated from The University of Toledo with a degree in Medical Assisting and has been working in healthcare in Toledo for over 25 years. Paula and her husband Clayton own Arista Home Care Solutions providing in-home care for the elderly and disabled in Monroe, Lucas, and Wood County.

Join CAG with Beth Miller of Hospice of Northwest Ohio to focus on how to appoint a surrogate decision maker to make medical decisions if you are ever in a situation where you cannot communicate your own wishes. Beth will focus on how to facilitate conversations with surrogates about what type of care is desired if a severe permanent brain injury should occur. She will also discuss how to put wishes in writing in the form of a Power of Attorney for Healthcare and Living Will. This brunch and learn will be held at the Citizen Advisory Group office.
