Why We Are Different

Based on state laws, when a professional acts as a fiduciary for the client they are held to a higher ethical standard and MUCH higher disclosure standard than sales people working for their company. Fiduciary responsibility exceeds that which is normally required of ordinary business relationships because the fiduciary is in a position of trust. The fiduciary MUST act for the benefit of the client, and place the interest of the client above their own.

The vast majority of financial professionals take an oath to represent their company…not you!

A prime example would be from an article from the Saturday, May 15th issue of the Wall Street Journal where it states that a professional is legally free to recommend an investment that pays him, and his firm more, than a similar lower cost investment. They can do this because the professional has not taken a fiduciary oath to represent the client.
